The average day in the live of Peaks at the moment goes roughly as follows. Up at Cinco treinta (5:30); in a cab at the front door headed to Haunchaco to catch some olas before school. The olas are pretty consistent here, so after a couple of waves its back to the "res" to help make the kids lunch before departing for school at 8:30. At school I now have "diez ninas" under my wing. Omar, Darwin, Julisa, Thalia, Raquel, Marina, Melir, Luz, Mabel & Willy. We started out with basic writing and sounds. We have now moved onto recognition of words and spelling tests. Needless to say this has proved challenging for the professor at times. We also usually finish the lesson off with a game of pictionary, making paper aeroplanes, or drawing exercise, all of which I thoroughly enjoy. The kids are pretty poor and some have broken shoes, torn clothes etc. So we have tried to correct this where possible. However some day in the future I might ask for some extra help from you guys (like tiny monthly contributions), to try and make a real difference. The amounts I'm talking about are the cost of pint for us and school fees for a month for them. Perspective is a wonderful thing.
On Vientes (Fridays) we play a game of football which is always hilarious especially with the profesor and his two left feet. The evenings have seen Professor Peaks teaching two Ingless classes. Again there is always a slight chuckle from the class when my spelling is corrected, but I do hope I'm improving. So as you can tell the weeks have been pretty hectic like a full time job. If you not teaching you preparing for lessons. So in an effort to get all I set out to do, done, I have left the project and headed north in search of the holy grail of waves. It is always important before attempting such a challenge to make adequate preparation. I have decided to do this in Pacasmayo (the second longest left hand wave in the world).n.b. only if there is enough swell, which there wasn't. We have been neglecting the "Olas Dios" (wave gods) and will be having a ceremony to make amens next week.

So sorry for the extreme delay in email contact.
I hope you're still alive, cos the last time I saw you, you were leaving on that skimpy little cat with your crazy mate and the captain from hell.
If you haven't worked it out yet I'm the South African guy from yacht Cha-Lee who had the sketches and shit.
Just thought I'd drop you a quick one to say I'm all good, actually living in Amsterdam now. Did the rest of the season in the Caribbean. Got on an awesome boat and had a good time.
Then decided enough was enough....flew to London, had a jol, flew to Amsterdam, had a jol, flew to Palma to do more yachting, got over it. So now I'm back in Amsterdam with my girlfriend and loving it. Gonna try and get some experience in the corperate world in case I might want to go that route later.
You still doing the exhibition?
Oh....just took a quick squiz at your blog. Awesome bro...I'll look some more to get the lowdown.
It was cool meeting you my man. Keep well
Dave
p.s. if you can sell any of my sketches in this exhibition you told me about while drunk, all profit goes to charity guarenteed.
Hey Phineous, glad to hear you survived the ocean crossing (remarkable for a non-swimming zimbo) and are making the most of S America. I'd typed out a long mail but came straight back to me and sent me here so this is the condensed version. Iran was an unbelievable experience both from a cultural and landscape perspective... desert is just mind-blowing; bit like Namibia but just that much more immense & impressive! Caught 2 cheetah, 1 beaut persian leopard, lost 10kgs and came back looking like a wild man but all good and slowly but surely getting back into normal life again in durbs. Phd write-ups a drag but spending enough time on the ocean to keep sane. Mate, I still owe you a pile of cash from Zim trip. V sorry about this, left for iran couple weeks earlier than expected and by time I got back you'd obviously left and lurks disappeared. Could you send me some bank details so I can deposit this asap. Sorry bud!
Better run, take care of yourself mate and keep in touch.
Cheers
your old mentor in SA
Balme
